The Business Development Representative is a business development position that performs inbound follow up as well as strategic prospecting, qualification, and sales nurturing functions to support new sales of Powerfleet’s hardware and software solutions. The BDR would utilize their professional communication skills, research, and investigation skills, as well as marketing and sales savvy, in this role. The Business Development Representative calls relevant department heads/executives, part of target companies, to discuss their business problems and initiatives, introduce the value and solutions that Powerfleet provides, and expose a knowledge gap. These qualified contacts and opportunities are then introduced to Sales for further pursuit.
The Business Development Representative will be responsible for ensuring weekly, monthly and quarterly goals are met. They will work closely with the operations function on developing necessary reports and dashboards. They will leverage predictive insights from marketing technology and other data resources and personalize outreach using a multi-channel approach, with the goal of qualifying prospects and generating quality pipeline. They will research potential customers and qualify the likelihood and magnitude of partnership, gain insight into the customers’ needs and develop a value proposition that encourages the adoption of Powerfleet solutions.
PowerFleet’s goal is to grow the BDR to reach their sales, marketing, or strategy career aspirations. This role can be the launching point to a long-term career at PowerFleet.
Responsibilities
- Develop and nurture relationships with qualified prospects using multi-channel tactics, including calling, leaving voicemails, creating videos, emailing, social media, etc
- Use prospecting strategies to lead outreach to prospects within PowerFleet’s target market
- Determine the needs and challenges of the prospect and position the value of PowerFleet and PowerFleet’s solutions
- Follow defined operational processes to ensure Salesforce CRM is the single source of truth
- Partner with Sales and Marketing to define and execute a successful account-based strategy for named target prospect accounts
- Research new and existing databases and ensure all relevant personas, which are part of the buying committee, are part of the opportunity
- As part of the qualification process, setup discovery and demo request calls from both outbound prospecting and inbound follow up efforts and clarify administrative and implementation process questions during the prospecting phase.

Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills (listening & verbal & written)
- Achievement driven (Performance focused)
- Strong organizational skills (daily and weekly planning)
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Salesforce)
- Ability to be assertive and persuasive without being aggressive
- Able to work independently and reliably
- Strong interpersonal skills (ability to purposely capitalize upon relationships)
- Track record of achieving measurable monthly lead development/sales goals
Desired Qualifications
- College Degree / Industrial Engineer / Project Management Engineering / Systems Engineering or similar
- An understanding of account-based marketing and sales strategies
- Familiarity with CRM and Sales Enablement Tools (preferably Salesforce and Salesloft)
- Familiarity of databases (preferably Teams)
- 0-2 years business development and/or sales experience
- Ability to navigate corporate structures to identify decision makers and determine buying process
- Excellent phone marketing and/or sales experience preferred
- Experience giving presentations
