About the Role
The Production Technician supports the assembly, testing, validation, troubleshooting, order provisioning, device configuration, RMA repair, and continuous improvement of Powerfleet hardware products throughout pre-production, production, post-production support, and manufacturing transfer activities. The role works closely with Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, and Contract Manufacturing partners to ensure product quality, manufacturing readiness, accurate customer order preparation, efficient repair processing, and reliable production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Support manufacturing and production activities for telematics, IoT, and hardware products.
Assemble, configure, and test electronic devices according to engineering specifications and work instructions.
Perform order provisioning activities, including preparing, programming, labeling, and validating customer devices according to order requirements.
Configure hardware, firmware, software settings, and customer-specific parameters to ensure devices are ready for deployment.
Perform functional, environmental, and validation testing on prototypes, pilot builds, and production units.
Troubleshoot hardware, electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing issues.
Record and document production, test, and repair results accurately.
Perform RMA repair activities, including receiving, diagnosing, repairing, testing, and documenting returned customer units.
Support pre-production builds, process validation activities, and product launches.
Assist engineering teams in identifying root causes of manufacturing defects and implementing corrective actions.
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to improve production efficiency, yield, and quality.
Support contract manufacturers during new product introduction (NPI) and production ramp-up activities.
Maintain calibration and proper use of manufacturing and test equipment.
Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety requirements, and manufacturing procedures.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost, quality, delivery, and productivity.
Provide feedback on manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and work instructions.
Required Qualifications
Technical Diploma, Associate Degree, or equivalent qualification in:
- Electronics
- Mechatronics
- Electrical Engineering Technology
- Manufacturing Technology
- Industrial Electronics
2+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing, testing, repair, or product assembly.
Experience reading electrical schematics and technical documentation.
Experience using test equipment such as:
- Multimeters
- Oscilloscopes
- Power supplies
- Diagnostic tools
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to document findings and communicate effectively with engineering teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with PCB assembly and electronic manufacturing processes.
Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
Familiarity with SMT manufacturing processes and contract manufacturers.
Experience with quality systems and root-cause analysis methods.
Exposure to telematics, fleet technology, GPS, wireless devices, or IoT products.
Knowledge of Jira, ERP, PLM, or manufacturing tracking systems.

The annual salary range for this full-time position is $55,000 - $65,000 USD. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
