About the Role
The Director, Renewals & Expansion is responsible for driving customer retention and revenue growth through analytical rigor, strategic planning, and operational execution. This role plays a critical part in designing and executing scalable renewal and expansion initiatives across Powerfleet’s customer base. Success in this role requires a data-centric mindset, commercial savvy, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to ensure customers continue to realize measurable value from our solutions.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role that balances customer engagement with analytical insight to shape and optimize renewal performance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Renewal & Expansion Planning
- Develop and refine data-driven renewal and expansion strategies that reduce churn and unlock growth across key customer segments.
- Define success metrics and performance benchmarks, incorporating quantitative and qualitative customer data into planning cycles.
- Partner with Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Finance to align on account plans, pricing strategies, and value articulation.
Renewal Management & Customer Engagement
- Manage the end-to-end renewal lifecycle for enterprise and mid-market accounts, with a focus on proactive outreach and high-touch engagement.
- Analyze customer health trends and usage patterns to identify risk indicators and trigger retention interventions.
- Drive strategic account-level discussions to identify upsell/cross-sell potential and support broader commercial objectives.
- Serve as a key point of contact for high-value customers during contract renewal and negotiation cycles.
Operational Optimization & Analytics
- Design and maintain renewal forecasting models to deliver accurate revenue projections and scenario planning.
- Track and report on renewal performance, churn metrics, expansion revenue, and operational KPIs, providing insights to senior leadership.
- Identify process inefficiencies and leverage tools such as Salesforce and Gainsight to streamline and scale renewal operations.
- Continuously improve workflows through experimentation (e.g., A/B testing) and incorporate feedback loops into strategy refinement.
Commercial Negotiations & Value Realization
- Lead complex commercial discussions with customers, balancing client satisfaction and business outcomes.
- Collaborate with Legal and Finance on contract terms and pricing structures that support customer value while safeguarding business interests.
- Position Powerfleet’s solutions as essential to customer success, reinforcing ROI and long-term partnership potential.
Qualifications & Experience
- 7+ years of experience in renewals, customer success, account management, or revenue operations in a SaaS or recurring revenue business model
- Demonstrated success managing renewals at scale, with measurable impact on retention and expansion metrics
- Strong analytical skills with experience building and interpreting forecasting models, performance dashboards, and customer health metrics
- Excellent commercial acumen with a track record of handling high-value negotiations
- Proficiency with Salesforce, Gainsight, and Excel or BI tools for operational insights and reporting
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with comfort influencing across matrixed teams and engaging with executive stakeholders
- Proven ability to operate autonomously in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
