Position Summary
The Field Installation Technician is responsible for delivering high-quality installations, upgrades, and onsite technical support for IVMS, fatigue monitoring, Vision AI, AD+, and in-warehouse solutions. This role plays a critical part in the successful execution of both individual installations and large-scale deployment projects by ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and consistently.
Reporting to the Field Service Team Lead, the Field Installation Technician manages assigned installations, supports complex deployment activities, performs onsite quality checks, and upholds Powerfleet’s health, safety, and installation standards across customer locations throughout Belgium and, when required, other European markets.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Technical Execution
Perform vehicle and equipment installations for IVMS, fatigue monitoring, Vision AI, AD+, and in-warehouse systems in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
Execute wiring, mounting, calibration, and system configuration activities accurately and efficiently.
Complete pre-installation and post-installation testing to validate system functionality and ensure successful deployment.
Ensure all installation work meets Powerfleet quality standards and customer requirements.
Deployment & Site Support
Support onsite coordination for large or complex deployment projects, ensuring installation activities are completed efficiently and to standard.
Provide onsite oversight during strategic installation deployments, including performing quality checks of service partner technician work.
Collaborate with project teams, customers, and service partners to ensure successful project execution.
Assist with deployment planning, resource coordination, and installation scheduling as required.
Troubleshooting & Quality Assurance
Troubleshoot installation issues independently across a wide range of equipment, vehicle types, and system configurations.
Escalate complex technical issues appropriately while maintaining ownership through resolution.
Maintain accurate installation documentation, including photographs, configuration details, testing results, and service notes.
Identify recurring issues and provide recommendations for process improvements and installation best practices.
Health & Safety
Follow Powerfleet health and safety policies, customer site requirements, and all applicable local regulations while performing installation work.
Complete required risk assessments and adhere to safe work procedures for all installation activities.
Report hazards, incidents, near misses, and safety concerns promptly and accurately.
Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Demonstrated experience installing technical systems in vehicle, telematics, electronics, fleet technology, or similar field-based environments.
Minimum of 2 years of field-based installation or technical service experience.
Automotive experience is essential (e.g., mechanic, automotive technician, auto electrician, or similar trade), with hands-on experience working on commercial vehicles and equipment.
Strong technical background with the ability to work independently and manage complex installations and deployment activities.
Proven ability to troubleshoot a wide range of equipment, wiring configurations, and system issues in the field.
Experience supporting large-scale, multi-vehicle, or multi-site installation deployments is preferred.
Valid Belgian driver’s license with the ability to travel regularly to customer locations throughout Belgium and, when required, neighboring European countries.
Authorization to work in Belgium.

Organized, reliable, and capable of managing multiple installation priorities simultaneously.
Clear communication skills and professional customer-facing presence.
Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Comfortable working with vehicle systems, including wiring, dashboard removal, splicing, and vehicle interiors.
Tech-savvy with the ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly (full product training provided).
Strong customer communication and relationship-building skills in onsite environments.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with remote teams.
Language Requirements
Professional proficiency in Dutch and/or French required.
Working proficiency in English required.
Additional European language skills are considered an advantage.
Working Conditions
Field-based role with frequent travel to customer locations.
Regular work within vehicle, warehouse, industrial, and fleet operating environments.
Occasional overnight travel may be required based on customer and project needs.
Ability to safely perform physical installation work, including lifting equipment, accessing vehicle interiors, and working in various operational environments.
The annual salary range for this full-time position is $80,000-$90,000 EUR. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
