About the Role
The Senior Manager, Business Applications is responsible for leading the strategy, implementation, optimization, and ongoing management of Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP and related business applications across Powerfleet. This role serves as a key bridge between business operations and technology, ensuring enterprise systems effectively support Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Service, and Operational business objectives.
This leader will drive business transformation initiatives through scalable ERP solutions, process optimization, automation, analytics, and platform governance while partnering closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external partners. The role also provides leadership to functional consultants, administrators, and developers supporting the Microsoft ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Business Applications Strategy & Leadership
Define and execute the enterprise roadmap for Microsoft Dynamics 365 and related Microsoft technologies including Power Platform, Azure integrations, Microsoft 365, Teams, and Power BI.
Partner with cross-functional business leaders to align application capabilities with operational priorities, growth initiatives, and strategic objectives.
Identify opportunities to improve business performance through automation, analytics, AI capabilities, and process standardization.
Serve as a strategic advisor on ERP and enterprise application capabilities, scalability, and optimization.
Functional Solution & Business Process Leadership
Serve as the functional subject matter expert across key business domains including Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Service, and Operations.
Lead business process discovery, mapping, and optimization initiatives to improve efficiency and scalability.
Translate business requirements into scalable Dynamics 365 solutions aligned with enterprise standards and best practices.
Lead fit-gap analysis, functional solution design, and process alignment discussions.
Promote a configuration-first approach to minimize customization and technical debt.
Partner with stakeholders to define reporting requirements, KPIs, workflows, and data structures.
Oversee backlog prioritization, user story development, and acceptance criteria in partnership with delivery teams and product owners.
Support and guide User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities and ensure solutions meet operational requirements.
Act as an escalation point for complex cross-functional or cross-module system issues.
Platform & Application Management
Oversee the configuration, customization, integration, and ongoing support of Dynamics 365 applications and related Microsoft technologies.
Establish and maintain governance standards related to system security, compliance, data integrity, and application performance.
Develop best practices for release management, application lifecycle management, and platform optimization.
Ensure system reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement across integrated business applications.
Team Leadership & Vendor Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of functional consultants, administrators, analysts, and developers.
Establish standards for documentation, functional consulting practices, and solution delivery methodologies.
Manage relationships with Microsoft, implementation partners, consultants, and managed service providers.
Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between business, functional, and technical teams.
Project Delivery & Change Management
Lead end-to-end delivery of ERP initiatives including implementations, enhancements, upgrades, integrations, and business transformation projects.
Ensure strong stakeholder engagement throughout all phases of project delivery from discovery through deployment and adoption.
Champion structured change management, user training, communication, and adoption strategies.
Drive measurable business outcomes, operational improvements, and return on investment from technology initiatives.
Operational Excellence
Oversee incident, problem, and service management activities aligned with ITIL best practices.
Monitor platform usage, adoption, and performance metrics to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
Manage application-related budgets, software licensing, vendor agreements, and support contracts.
Ensure enterprise applications remain aligned with evolving business and operational requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
10+ years of experience supporting enterprise business applications, including hands-on functional consulting experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
5+ years of leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and enterprise application initiatives.
Proven experience leading end-to-end ERP implementations, business process transformation, and enterprise system optimization initiatives.
Strong expertise across Dynamics 365 ERP modules including Finance, Supply Chain Management, Customer Service, and related business applications.
Experience with Microsoft technologies including Power Platform, Azure integrations, Power BI, and Microsoft 365 preferred.
Microsoft certifications such as Dynamics 365 Functional Consultant, Solution Architect, or Power Platform certifications preferred.
