Purpose of Job/Job Objective:
The primary purpose of this role is to drive revenue growth by acquiring new business within the dealer, insurance, and broader B2B sectors. The External Account Manager will identify, engage, and secure new clients while establishing long-term partnerships that support sustainable business expansion. This role requires close collaboration with internal departments to achieve sales targets while ensuring clients remain satisfied and engaged with our products and services over time. Key responsibilities include building and maintaining strong customer relationships, engaging with key business stakeholders, and preparing detailed sales reports. The Account Manager will also work closely with cross-functional teams, including Customer Service and Sales Enablement, to enhance the overall customer experience, respond to client queries, and identify new business opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

New Business Development
• Identify and target prospective clients within dealer networks, insurance industry, and B2B markets
• Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve and exceed new business targets
• Generate leads through cold calling, networking, referrals, and industry events
• Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitor activity
Client Acquisition & Relationship Building
• Engage decision-makers and present tailored solutions aligned with client needs
• Build and maintain strong relationships with new clients to ensure successful onboarding
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements
Sales Performance & Pipeline Management
• Maintain a healthy and active sales pipeline
• Track and report on sales activities, forecasts, and performance metrics
• Ensure consistent achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
Product & Market Knowledge
• Develop a deep understanding of company products/services and value propositions
• Stay informed on industry developments within the dealer, insurance, and B2B sectors
Collaboration & Internal Alignment
• Work closely with internal teams (marketing, operations, customer success) to ensure seamless client onboarding and service delivery
• Provide feedback from the market to inform product development and strategy
• Serve as the lead point of contact for all customer account management matters
• Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships
• Ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs and objectives
• Communicate Weekly/Monthly/quarterly progress reports to clients where required
• Develop new business and/or identify areas of improvement to meet sales targets
• Forecast and track key account metrics (e.g. weekly/monthly forecasts)
• Prepare reports on existing account status, sales pipeline and call cycle
• Collaborate with Regional / Area Sales Manager to identify and grow opportunities within territory
• Assist with challenging client requests or issue escalations as needed
• Target opposition accounts for new business development
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• Code 8 Drivers License
• Roadworthy Vehicle
• Matric
• Able to Travel within Gauteng
• Able to attend after hour functions on occasion
• 2 – 5 Years Sales experience
• Experience in the Motor / Insurance Industry
• Confident demeanour
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with
internal and external customers
• Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, Power BI and Outlook)
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and
providing exemplary customer service
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of
instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
